The Lowry Avenue Bridge is an important transportation corridor and neighborhood connection in Minneapolis. Hennepin County started the design process for bridge replacement in 2007. The bridge was closed in 2008 due to known structural issues and demolished in June 2009.

Phase I of the replacement project - the bridge over the Mississippi River - is currently underway. Phase II of the replacement project – construction over the Canadian Pacific Railroad – commenced in April 2011.

See Construction News for more information and photographs of construction.

The entire Lowry Avenue Bridge Replacement Project - including Phase I and Phase II, from Marshall St. NE to 2nd St. N – is scheduled for completion in Summer 2012.
